Plane
- The easiest way to reach Amos is by flying. Air Canada offers 4 daily flights to Val-d’Or airport, via Montreal (Pierre-Eliott Trudeau International Airport-YUL). The Symposium organizers will organize shuttles from Val-d’Or to Amos, to bring you to your hotel. In case of limited availability, participants can also fly to Rouyn-Noranda airport, also via Montreal (Pierre-Eliott Trudeau International Airport-YUL).
- We can also arrange to pick up participants at this airport. In any case, you need to fill the shuttle form to reserve your seat on the shuttle (free).
- Air Canada is the official Canadian airline for the symposium. Ask the promotion code to get discount fares at liaison.irf@uqat.ca. In order to take advantage of the discounted fares, event delegates must book their flight at aircanada.com and enter the applicable Promotion Code in the search panel. If the Promotion Code is not entered or is entered incorrectly, the Discounts will not be applied to the booking. The applicable Promotion Code must be recorded on the delegate's ticket by ticketing agencies/airlines.
Car
- Amos is about a 7 hour drive from Montreal and Toronto. The drive is long but relatively easy and provides the opportunity to observe the transition from the southern-urban region to northern landscapes of forests, lakes and rivers. From Montreal, Route 15 N (Autoroute des Laurentides) turns into Route 117 N which takes you to Val d'Or. There is a long stretch of highway between Grand Remous and Louvicourt (about 300 km) where there are few services, so make sure you have adequate gas and provisions for the drive. From Val d’Or to Amos, take the route 111 N. From Toronto, take Highway 400 N to Barrie, then Highway 11 to North Bay. From North Bay, you take Hwy 63 to Témiscaming, Quebec then continue north on Hwy 101 to Rouyn-Noranda. You then take the 117 S to Rivière-Héva and then the 109 N to Amos.
Bus
- Bus service to Amos (via Val d'Or) is available from Montreal and Toronto (via Montreal), and indirectly, from all other major Canadian cities. Reservations are not necessary. Fares are cheaper than airfare but obviously travelling time is much longer. Rates and timetables for departures between Montréal and Amos are available at https://autobusmaheux.qc.ca/.
